Incorporated Societies: Information Hub

Kia ora,

We’ve created this Information Hub because all 24,000 Incorporated Societies in New Zealand must re-register under the Incorporated Societies Act 2022 by 5 April 2026. If you do not re-register by that date, your society will cease to exist.

Below you will find articles, guides, videos, FAQs, and links to upcoming free webinars so you can be empowered to take the right next steps.

We also offer a Constitution Template – a legally compliant and cost-effective option to update your constitution so that it complies with the new Act.

Our experienced team are legal experts on incorporated societies in New Zealand and have helped hundreds of societies update their constitutions and prepare for re-registration.

Contact us today to discuss your circumstances. We can recommend the best approach to ensure your society meets the re-registration deadline.

Ngā mihi nui

In this video, recorded in early April 2025, we hear about the latest position for Incorporated Societies looking to reregister, the process involved, and the top 10 changes to be aware of. We also talk about whether all such entities should be this entity type, or if they should consider whether a charitable trust is a better option.

Constitution Template for Incorporated Societies

A cost-effective constitution update for smaller societies

To support Incorporated Societies re-registering under the Incorporated Societies Act 2022, we have introduced a legally compliant and cost-effective Constitution Template option.

Before a society can re-register, it must first update its constitution so that it complies with the new Act. Not every society needs a fully bespoke constitution. If you want a practical, compliant document at a lower price point, our Constitution Template option is designed for you.
