Grant has been a lawyer since 1980 and a partner in Parry Field since 1988, specialising in Commercial and Personal law.
Grant has advised on the sales and purchases of businesses, farms and the sale and purchase and protection of intellectual property. He has helped restructure businesses, as well as build asset protection and succession structures for individuals. Grant has some significant clients operating in tourism, hi-tech, farming, medicine and the service industries.
Grant is the Board Chair of Stepping Stone Trust, a Christchurch charity assisting those with mental illness. He is also a Trust Board Member of Lea-Dev Langham, the New Zealand arm of an international Christian training and support agency.
He is a past Chairman of Burnside High School Board of Trustees, St Christopher’s Community Trust and Waiora Forest Landscapes Ltd. Grant has also been a trustee or director of other trusts and companies and has considerable experience with not-for-profit entities.
In his spare time Grant enjoys reading and mountain biking, as well as the occasional bit of public speaking. When asked what he enjoys most about working as a lawyer he replied: “When I first became a lawyer I really enjoyed helping people with legal issues. While that is still true, just as rewarding, now, is that many people also ask for advice on non-legal issues; showing how much they have come to trust and respect the experience that lawyers gain”.
“Grant Adams and Parry Field have proved to be capable and reliable partners over many years. Grant, in particular, successfully managed our interests in a multi-million dollar commercial transaction involving the sale of our businesses to a private equity company. In addition, he has overseen numerous other commercial transactions including the drafting of various shareholder and loan agreements that were always clear, precise and easily understood. I am pleased to endorse Grant and his team to any prospective client.”
Brendan McNeill – Company Director, Christchurch.
“I have worked with Grant and others in the Parry Field team for many years now. Grant’s help navigating me through the sale of my business to a very large multi-national company was invaluable as he helped guide me through the process to negotiate and work with lawyers from several countries, an M & A team from the US and a complex sale and purchase agreement. Recently Grant has provided me with excellent help, advice and support as I’ve worked to set up a charity in New Zealand and social enterprise business in Nepal. I always enjoy meeting with Grant as the time spent with him is ‘more than just business’.”
