Late August 2024 Impact Sector Update

Impact Sector Updates

Kia ora,

A few updates, free resources, lunch in Auckland, conferences – feel free to hit forward to share this info! (and if you get this and want to join the 900 or so that get the email let me know).

Season 3 of Board Matters which I hosted for the IOD will be released in the month of September – I spoke to 5 amazing people about their thoughts on how we create safe spaces in our boardrooms.  Why not find it in podcast apps like spotify here and listen in (there are also 20+ other episodes from previous seasons).

The Faith in Action Report was just released this week – led by James Stewart, I helped out on this the last few months and it has lots of data on Christian Churches and Charities and what they do – assets, employees, volunteers – it is worth looking at even if not your sector to see how data can be used.  For it I wrote a section on governance at page 45 and a section on “green shoots” and innovation at page 46/47 – it is a free download here.

Impact lunch next week is also on in Auckland – yes, Auckland!  Join me by getting a ticket here and 30+ others already signed up at the Sustainable Business Network offices where I will share about impact investing trends.  Tickets will finish up for sale tonight so we can finalise numbers.

On Wednesday was at an all day Governance conference in Christchurch focussed on Churches and faith groups organised by Christian Savings – I spoke with Chris Clarke on innovation and legal structure options.  This continues in Auckland next Wednesday and in Wellington the week after (info and tickets here).  Topics include the Abuse in Care report, good governance, succession planning, Diversity on boards and a lot more – and a networking opp with at least 150 attending in Auckland.  Join us?

On Tuesday hosted a lunch in Christchurch with about 40 attending – Enjoyed hearing from Barry Coates about Mindful Money at the Seeds Podcast impact lunch – you can watch his sharing in the video here … why not join a future lunch with others?

The quality of guests on Seeds Podcast has been outstanding last two weeks – up to episode 405 now. www.theseeds.nz  These last three are all really good: On having a Wonder Mindset, on cofounding a sustainable cleaning products business and Denmark and on taking risks in your career and trying new things.  Here are some images of the recent guests Sarah, Jono and Stine:

If you’d like to be removed from this newsletter just let me know!  Keep up the great mahi/work everyone…

Ngā mihi

Steven
