The Role
We are looking for a Family lawyer to join our Disputes team, based in our City office.
In this role, you will:
- Manage a broad range of family law matters including the Property (Relationships) Act 1976 (relationship property and contracting out agreements), Care of Children Act 2004 (day to day care and guardianship), Family Violence Act 2018 (protection orders), Protection of Personal and Property Rights Act 1988 (applications for welfare guardian and property manager), and claims under the Family Protection Act 1955;
- Provide clear, empathetic, and practical advice to clients;
- Represent clients in Family Court proceedings where required; and
- Work closely with a supportive team while enjoying autonomy in managing files.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with at least 2 years’ PQE in family law in New Zealand who is keen to take the next step in their career.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Strong advocacy skills with the ability to appear in Family Court.
- Excellent communication and drafting skills.
- A client-focused, empathetic approach with the ability to build trust quickly.
