A Transcript of the video follows:

Here in Christchurch, New Zealand we recently experienced a 7.1 magnitude earthquake, it really shook us up.

What surprised us, although perhaps it shouldn’t have, was the number of people that weren’t prepared in terms of their insurance cover.

Enduring Powers of Attorney are a form of insurance. You’ve probably all heard of Powers of Attorney well Enduring Powers of Attorney are an extension of that idea.  They are means whereby you can sign a document that authorises someone else to act on your behalf - sign documents, make decisions, etc,  in the event of you becoming mentally disabled. Its not just old people that become mentally disabled it can happen to us at any time.

The attorney can be authorised to act in relation to your property or your own personal care and welfare.  They are critically important documents.

Without one your relatives could be facing thousands of dollars of costs to obtain a court order to look after your affairs, we strongly recommend them.
